Shodair Children’s Hospital
Helena, MT
(Currently under construction)
Shodair Children’s Hospital is currently building a new ground-up $66 million, 20-bed middle school aged residential facility. This will become a model for behavior health in the area. The new facility and programs will provide a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment to promote positive change for the children, their families, and the community.
AKLD worked with local architects SMA to deliver a modern solution which includes the implementation of flexible lighting throughout to account for multi-functional use of all public spaces. Day rooms and patient treatment areas are equipped with circadian lighting to help create sun rise to sun set capabilities. Special care was taken to assure that all private rooms were cheery, flexible, and above all safe with tamper proof type products.
All lighting controls were designed to be adaptable but secure for the 24-7 operations. All products are dimmable and along with the tunable lighting are programmed to change throughout the day taking into account function and available daylighting.
