Northwestern University - Deering Library West Entrance Renovation
Evanston, IL
Deering Library's role as the ceremonial front door of Northwestern's campus had been compromised by circumstance, changing priorities and logistical considerations. Restoration of the long-closed main entrance and lobby and addition of new vestibules, security desk, display cases, lighting and an outdoor plaza provide significant public space and opportunities for exhibition of the University's extraordinary archival treasures. The renovation included custom designed lighting into existing fixtures and furniture mounted lighting to preserve the historic look. Additional increased lighting levels were achieved while realizing a reduction in energy and maintenance.
