AKLD Lighting Design is delighted to spotlight Lighting Director, Lisa Bartlett, IALD, for her powerful and thought-provoking presentation at MED Talks 2025: Collaborative Innovations in Health.
As one of six featured speakers, Lisa took the stage to present “Bright Medicine: Light as the Next Frontier in Behavioral Health”—a compelling exploration of how architectural lighting can shift from simply supporting function to actively promoting healing. Drawing on evidence-based research and her own award-winning design expertise, Lisa challenged attendees to imagine a future where lighting becomes a deliberate, therapeutic intervention in mental health care.
“The impact of light on all aspects of health, especially mental health, is irrefutable,” Lisa noted during her talk. “Imagine a bright future in which innovative lighting moves beyond ‘do no harm’ to become a catalyst for wellness.”
Lisa’s insights sparked enthusiastic discussion among designers, healthcare providers, and industry leaders. One attendee described her presentation as “aspirational, offering a quantum leap in lighting innovation.”
Hosted by HDR and Turner Construction, MED Talks 2025 brought together interdisciplinary voices to explore innovation in healthcare design. AKLD Lighting Design is honored to have contributed to this important dialogue and remains committed to advancing lighting strategies that improve lives.
