Kiersten Hoiland, IES, IALD Junior Associate
Kiersten is committed to shaping environments with light to reinforce the function of the space. Her educational background in interior architecture and music gives her a greater understanding of how light can be seamlessly integrated into a space to accentuate form, texture, and rhythm. She is particularly interested in environmental behavior patterns as well as the emotional and health effects related to lighting. After extensive research and observational study, her thesis entitled, “The not-so-guiding-light: A look at wayfinding behavior and lighting design in a hospitality setting,” focused on the correlation of lighting design and wayfinding behavior in unfamiliar environments. She is well-versed in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D Studio Max.
Kiersten holds a Master of Interior Architecture Degree from Chatham University and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Interior Architecture and Music from St. Olaf College.
