Ted Bohlin, LC, IES, LEED AP
Senior Lighting Designer
Ted has been involved in the lighting industry for over 30 years. Working in theaters in New York and New England kindled a lifelong interest in the power of light to both reveal and enhance objects as it shapes and affects human emotional responses. Ted worked as a theatrical master electrician for multiple professional regional theaters in the North East as well as designing the lighting for productions in Boston, NYC and New Hampshire throughout the 1980s. Building on contacts and relationships in the theatrical world, Ted was one of the first employees of Mystic Scenic Studios Inc. in Boston, and for the next eight years worked as a Project Manager with a specialty in Museum Exhibits.
With AKLD since March of 1999, Ted has honed his architectural lighting design skills participating in continuing lighting education as both student and teacher while working on a wide variety of projects from houses of worship and corporate environments to private residences. Ted was the recipient of an IESNA International Illumination Design Award for his design work on the restaurant “Vucciria” in Milwaukee, and was a lead designer on the award winning 2006 renovation to the Evanston Public Library Youth Services. Proficient in Computer Aided Design, multiple programs for professional photometric analysis, and trained to design and program a number of the best products in lighting control systems, Ted brings a high level of technical expertise to all of our design projects.
